These pieces were the first set of Coasters that I have sold. They were cut from a 1x6 of Red Oak to a 4x4 size. The lower edges were chamfered using a hand-router, then burned using a blowtorch. The engraving was also done using a hand-router and paper template. Finally, the coasters were finished using a water and stain proof oil finish.
I failed once on the original design, scrapping one coaster and remaking it later in the process. Then the last four attempts went smoothly.

On this attempt I made the letters too deep and wide, making it look unnatural and losing some parts of the letters.
